{"id":19318,"date":"2023-08-02T10:22:19","date_gmt":"2023-08-02T10:22:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.goodenergy.co.uk\/?post_type=support-article&#038;p=19318"},"modified":"2025-10-08T15:20:43","modified_gmt":"2025-10-08T15:20:43","slug":"how-to-use-the-online-account-2","status":"publish","type":"support-article","link":"https:\/\/www.goodenergy.co.uk\/support\/articles\/how-to-use-the-online-account-2\/","title":{"rendered":"How to use the new online account\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Good Energy online account is a simple, easy and green way to manage your energy, and it has recently had a new look.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Here is everything you need to get started.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"How-to-log-into-your-account-\">How to sign in to your account&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Navigate to the Online Account by clicking the<a href=\"https:\/\/account.goodenergy.co.uk\/\"> Account button<\/a> in the top right of our homepage navigation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Your account sign in details will be the same as they were on our old online account portal. If you\u2019ve forgotten your password, you can reset your password on the account sign in screen by selecting \u2018Forgotten your password?\u2019. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you need to update the email address you use to log in, please call our Clean Energy Specialists on 0345 034 2400.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"How-to-view-your-usage-\">How to view your usage&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Got a smart meter? You can view all of your historic electricity and gas usage in the online account or app. This information is available to see in units and in cost, and you can see a daily, weekly or monthly view to fully understand how you are using your energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All you need to do is navigate to the usage tab to get started.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"How-to-submit-a-meter-reading-\">How to submit a meter reading&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It is easy to submit meter readings using your online account. Here\u2019s what you need to do:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">1. Navigate to \u2018Readings\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">2. Press the \u2018Submit meter reading\u2019 button or text link at the top of your screen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">3. If you have multiple meters, select the meter that you would like to submit a reading for. 4. Input the reading into the \u2018New meter reading\u2019 field. Visit how to read your meter for guidance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">5. If your reading was taken on a previous date, select this from the \u2018Reading date\u2019 drop down.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">6. Press the \u2018Submit reading\u2019 button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">7. Check that the reading and date are correct for the selected meter. You can edit this information by pressing the \u2018Edit reading\u2019 button, which will take you back to the previous screen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">8. Once confirmed, press the \u2018Confirm &amp; submit\u2019 button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"How-to-make-a-payment-\">How to make a payment&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can use your online account to set up a new payment. Here\u2019s what you need to do:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">1. Navigate to \u2018Payments\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">2. Press the \u2018Make one-off payment\u2019 button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">3. Input an amount in the \u2018Top-up amount\u2019 field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">4. Enter your card details in the relevant fields and press \u2018Pay\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">5. Once your payment is received you will see the \u2018Payment accepted\u2019 screen, displaying the amount paid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">6. On returning to \u2018Payments\u2019 you will see this appear in your transactions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"dd\">How to set up a Direct Debit&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Direct Debits are the easiest and greenest way to pay for your energy. You can set up a new Direct Debit using your online account, by following the steps below. Please note, this functionality is not yet available on our app.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">1. Navigate to \u2018Payments\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">2. Press the \u2018Set up a Direct Debit\u2019 button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">3. Select which type of Direct Debit you would like to set up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00b7 With a fixed Direct Debit, you will pay the same amount on the same date each month. This helps you to budget throughout the year, effectively overpaying in summer to cover the additional fuel used over winter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u00b7 With a variable Direct Debit, your payment amount and payment day will change from month to month in line with your usage and billing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Setting-up-a-schedule-for-fixed-direct-debits-\">Setting up a schedule for fixed direct debits&nbsp;<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">4. Choose your payment amount by using the increase and decrease toggles, or by entering an amount directly into the field. Your payment must be within a certain range displayed above the field. We will display a recommended amount based on your current balance and energy usage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">5. Choose your date of payment by using the dropdown selector. If this date ever falls on a weekend or bank holiday, the payment will be taken the next working day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">6. Press \u2018Confirm schedule\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Entering-your-bank-details\">Entering your bank details&nbsp;<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">7. Enter the bank account information in the relevant fields.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">8. Review your chosen payment schedule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">9. Tick the box to confirm that you are the account holder and the only person required to authorise debits from the account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">10. If you would like to amend your payment schedule, press \u2018Edit payment schedule\u2019 to be taken back to the previous screen. Once you are happy that all information is correct, press \u2018Set up Direct Debit\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It can take up to 5 working days for the Direct Debit to be set
